Highlights...

‘The Music of Zimmer vs. Williams’ Concert

Bristol Harbour Cruise
The Jane Austen Centre, Bath

Experience an unforgettable symphony orchestra in concert with this holiday package, featuring the legendary music of John Williams & Hans Zimmer. Enjoy iconic scores from The Lion King, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, E.T., The Da Vinci Code and more in ‘The Music of Zimmer vs. Williams’, performed by the London Concert Orchestra. This magical performance will transport you through time and memory, and we have pre-booked best stalls seating for added comfort. Held at the Bristol Hippodrome, a historic 1904 theatre known for its grand architecture and excellent acoustics, this venue is a favourite for theatre-enthusiasts.

We also take time to explore Bristol, a vibrant and historic city in southwest England, which dates back to Roman times. It flourished as a major port during the medieval period, thriving on trade in wool, tobacco, and sugar. The city’s maritime legacy is expressed through landmarks like the SS Great Britain and the Clifton Suspension Bridge, both designed by the renowned engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The bridge spans the Avon Gorge, offering stunning views and symbolising Bristol’s engineering legacy. In the 20th century, Bristol became a cultural hub, famous for its vibrant arts scene and as the birthplace of street art icon Banksy. The historic Harbour, once central to maritime trade, is now a lively area with museums, restaurants, and attractions. Bristol is also known for its colourful houses, a trend that began in the 1970s and continues today, with houses in areas like Clifton and Bedminster helping shape the city’s unique character. This short break gives you the opportunity to visit Clevedon Pier; The Jane Austen Centre Bath; cruise the Bristol Harbour; see the Clifton Suspension Bridge Museum & more. Itinerary

Day 1 – Saturday 16th August

Your chauffeur-driven car will take you to the Crowne Plaza Gerrards Cross, where you'll meet your Tour Manager, enjoy pastries with tea or coffee, and your luggage will be loaded onto the coach. On the way, we’ll stop for lunch, then visit The Jane Austen Centre in Bath. Known for writing ‘Pride and Prejudice’, Austen lived in Bath from 1801-1806, with the centre celebrating her life and works. Costumed guides lead the tours and 2025 is a particularly special time to visit as it marks her 250th anniversary (please note no lift access at this venue, but the main exhibition is on the ground floor). After, we’ll continue to our hotel, where the Tour Manager will assist with check-in. You’ll then have time to unpack and relax before dinner.

Day 2 – Sunday 17th August

We start our day by the sea on Clevedon Pier, one of England’s oldest dating back to 1869 and designed by James Meadows Rendel, an associate of Brunel. Stretching 312m into the Bristol Channel, it’s a Grade I listed structure, carefully restored over time. Our tour will be led by an expert guide from the Clevedon Pier Heritage Centre. After a light lunch on the pier, we return to the hotel for leisure time, followed by an earlier. dinner before the show. This evening, we go to ‘The Music of Zimmer vs. Williams’ concert at The Bristol Hippodrome, in best stalls seating, with the London Concert Orchestra performing legendary film scores from Hollywood blockbusters. (Duration: 2 hours 10 minutes, including an interval).

Day 2 – Monday 18th August

Today we meet with our BBG Fred Mawer for an in-depth insight into Bristol’s most fascinating history. Fred will highlight key sites, including the SS Great Britain Ship and Clifton Suspension Bridge, both designed by Brunel in the 1800s. We experience the city from a unique perspective, cruising through Bristol Harbour during our boat tour, and explore the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge Museum, and we will have a guided walk along the bridge. After a light lunch in Clifton, we’ll take a gently-paced 1hr walking tour of the Old City area of Bristol. Back at the hotel, you might wish to make the most of the hotel facilities such as the swimming pool, gardens or treatment rooms before our final evening meal of the holiday.
