Glasgow & Beyond

5 day holiday – Monday 28th April 2025

Highlights...

Stirling Castle

Loch Lomond Cruise

Glasgow Cathedral

Situated on the banks of the River Clyde, on the western coast – Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city. During the 1800’s Glasgow was primarily a leader with its role in industry, shipbuilding and engineering, but also made contributions to architecture. While visiting Glasgow for its own history and delights, its location is the gateway to some of Scotland’s other treasures; beaches, castles and breath-taking coastlines! We will use this to visit historic Stirling and Loch Lomond.

Straddling a geographical faultline, which is considered to be the natural split between Scotland’s Lowlands and Highlands, Loch Lomand is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, wildlife and small islands. Nestled in the heart of Scotland’s first National Park Trossachs, the sweeping landscapes and rich history, along with the Loch being the largest freshwater lake in Britain, attracts visitors from around the world. Loch Lomond’s north area is characterised by its spectacular vistas along the loch shores; with forests and woodlands surrounded by the highlands. The dramatic backdrop to the loch created by the highlands includes Ben Lomond and Ben Vorlich.

Stirling Castle, another iconic attraction in Scottish history. Sitting atop its high volcanic rock and visible for many miles, the location of this castle rivals that of Edinburgh Castle. The castle is one of the largest and most historically and architecturally important castles in Scotland and was a favoured residence of the Stewart kings and queens; a palace as well as a fortress. A large part of the main buildings of the castle date back to the fifteenth and sixteenth century, although a few structures from the fourteenth century can still be found. A visit to the castle will give us an insight into sixteenth century life and the knowledgeable guides share details of the notorious characters and history. Inside the castle are must see highlights which include: The Great Hall, Chapel Royal, Castle Exhibition, Regimental Museum, Great Kitchens, and the Tapestry Studio.
